Quilts Beneath Your Feet
Quilts Beneath Your Feet are a series of patterns from Chris and Barbara based on the Minton tiles that we have found on the doorsteps, pathways and entrances in and around Stoke on Trent as well as further afield. They will vary from table runners to bed-size quilts but you can always adapt the pattern to suit your needs. Although on the whole we have done all our diagrams in the original tile colours we have found that the patterns lend themselves very well to being reproduced in a variety of fabrics and colours. Most of the patterns will include a photo of the original tiles, although sometimes we were only able to make a quick sketch. You will find further details about each pattern on the Meadowside blog, and occasionally on the Chris and Barbara blog. They will be available to buy from the Meadowside Payhip pages initially and later from Craftsy.
Our first pattern was first done as a Mystery quilt at a Chris and Barbara workshop in 2015. Our students had great fun making it in a variety of fabrics and colours. It is based on a local doorstep and will measure 38 x 20 inches. The pattern includes an optional extra border which will make a small lap quilt measuring 45 x 27 inches. The pattern is available from Payhip.
Field House Runner
This runner is also based on a local doorstep. It is more colourful than the previous one and you could have a lot of fun playing with colour placement in this design. The runner will measure 58 x 18 inches and again has an optional extra border which will make it into a small lap quilt or a bed runner measuring 64 x 24 inches. The pattern is available from Payhip.
This runner is based on a front garden path spotted in Eastbourne. The completed runner will measure 37 x 19 inches.
Again, try making it in colourful or floral fabrics for a very different look.
The pattern is available from Payhip.
